A new advance in works to extend the Metro B1 line. On May 10 the tunnelling machine completed excavation of the 850 m stretch of the even gallery connecting the Libia/Gondar station to Piazzale Annibaliano. At the same time, the tunnelling machine in the odd gallery is continuing its excavation towards the same station.
The Bologna - Conca d’Oro section will be completed in late 2011, while the section connecting the Conca d’Oro and Jonio stations will be operational beginning in December 2012.
The extension of the Metro B1 line will include four stations, Annibaliano – Libia/Gondar - Conca d’Oro – Jonio, for a total length of 5 km. Estimated travel time is 13 minutes, with an hourly capacity of approximately 48,000 passengers.
