The joint venture headed by Salini takes the lead for the Copenhagen Metro

Envelopes containing bids for the new Copenhagen Metro have been opened; Salini is competing as the head of an Italian joint venture known as Copenhagen Metro Team, together with Tecnimont S.p.A. and S.E.L.I. S.p.A.
The project, worth € 2 billion and broken down into two similar lots, includes civil works for the construction underground and under especially complex conditions of some 16 km of galleries and 17 stations on the new metropolitan line, which will serve Copenhagen beginning in 2018.
The public bid-opening ceremony, held in Copenhagen at the offices of the Danish Metropolitan Office, saw the group headed up by Salini Costruttori S.p.A. come out as the lowest bidder for the combined two lots, followed by the group under the Danish firm MT Højgaard and the group headed by the Austrian firm Alpine.
The Salini group also turned out to be the second-lowest bidder for the individual south lot.
The Danish Metropolitan Office must now complete the evaluation of the technical proposals and then proceed with negotiations that will extend into September 2010, when the contract is expected to be awarded.
