Sustainability becomes Science: the International Conference in Rome

26 Jun 2010

Environmental sustainability and climate changes: these were the major themes of the International Conference on Sustainability Science 2010 held at the Università La Sapienza di Roma, supported by the Salini Group as sponsor. The conference stressed the need to achieve a shared vision on sustainable development through on-going discussion between government institutions and the scientific world. This concept was strongly emphasized by Elinor Ostrom (Nobel Prize-Winner for Economy), who was guest of honour at the event.
This is the direction in which the Interuniversity Centre for Research on Sustainable Development at Università La Sapienza is moving. This department, known as CIRPS, is the first Italian academic institution to be part of an ad hoc network of Universities and Research Bodies throughout the world which includes among others: Harvard University, Arizona State University and Tokyo University.
